This is my wife.

Meepuru: Kazoku no shashin desu.
Kore wa kanai desu. Kore wa musume desu.
Nakata: Musume-san wa kookoosei desu ka.
Meepuru: Ee, soo desu.

Maple: This is a photo of my family.
This is my wife.  This is my daughter.
Nakata: Is your daughter in high school?
Maple: Yes, she is.


"Kanai" and "tsuma" are used only for your own wife.  "Oku-san" is used for someone else's wife. See the vocabulary list of Kazoku (family).
