This workbook accompanies the Japanese for Busy People II, Revised 3rd Edition, and offers exercise problems for practicing the sentence forms and grammar introduced in each Lesson in the main textbook. The workbook is a useful tool for independent studies, as well as for private and group lessons with an instructor. A CD-ROM, that is included with the workbook, provides listening exercises. The reading materials include a "blog written by a Canadian living in Japan." Students will practice reading by following the blog entries, that correspond with each Lesson, and writing in comments. The exercises toward the end of the workbook involve words and expressions for more advanced conversations, for example, for setting up an appointment or exchanging information.

The Kana Workbook includes exercises for helping the student learn to recognize, pronounce, and write each Katakana. The student will learn one character at a time and move onto reading and writing words and simple sentences and practice pronunciation using a CD that comes with the book. The student will also learn interesting facts about Japanese characters, traditional Japanese tools and crafts, and English words that have originated in Japan by reading the notes, written in English, throughout the book.

The Japanese for Busy People series requires about 300 hours of classroom instruction. At each level, enough vocabulary and grammar has been provided to enable the learner to easily communicate in uncomplicated adult Japanese.

Students who have completed all three levels of this series will acquire language skills generally equivalent to Level 3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
