For Employees New to Japan 〜Hands-on, practical program〜
For Employees Already working in Japan 〜All Level of Proficiency〜

 

AJALT instructors have extensive background in teaching Japanese to lawyers, certified public accountants, and diplomats. They have also taught professionals working in finance, international trades, and various academic fields. The AJALT program will provide immediate results and help the student achieve his or her professional goals.

 
Small-Group Lessons
The small group lesson plans are flexible. You can even ask for a one-hour long program. Each class can accommodate two to twenty students at a single price level.
First-Step Program ( 3/6 hours)

First-Step Program

This is a program for people just arriving in Japan. A person who completes the program will be able to have basic communications in Japanese and get around by him or herself. The program is recommended for individuals staying in Japan for a short period of time.
Japanese customs and practical advice on Tokyo.
Real-life Japanese that does not require extensive
memorization.
The student will get a compact card with a list of useful words and phrases.
The program is designed to help the students immediately and perfect for the whole family.
3 Hour Course (2 lessons, 1.5 hours each)
Learn how to read Roma-ji: pronounce Japanese words; and use key phrases to

Tell a cab driver where to go
Buy food and beverages
Order at a restaurant
6 Hour Course (4 lessons, 1.5 hours each)

Survival Program

Designed to teach student the minimum level of Japanese required for ensuing a comfortable stay in Japan. The student will learn to handle day-to-day activities with confidence:

Call for a cab and give directions

Make dinner reservations and get served at restaurants
Enjoy shopping in department stores
Get around using public transportation
 
15 - 30 Hours Course

Employee Development Program (for students at any levels of proficiency)

AJALT will design a program specific to your business and employee needs. The lessons will focus on helping your employees become more effective in the minimum amount of time.
Beginner’s Course (48 - 96 Hours)
The student will learn to do the following, in addition to the topics covered in the Survival Program.
Learn the basics of Japanese business etiquette
Acquire the basic communication skills needed for job training.
Understand the information presented in Japanese
Ask questions
Report problems or issues
Follow instructions and ask for help
Perform job duties
Follow the work rules
Read and understand work-area displays and signs
Maintain a simple log
Read and write simple notes
Communicate with coworkers
Meet and greet others
Have simple conversation and interact socially

A program example
For Students with some knowledge (48-96 Hours)

The student will learn to do the following, in addition to the contents covered in the Beginner’s Course. The student should have completed the Japanese for Busy People I,II, III or equivalent course.

Complete more advanced tasks using dictionaries and with some help
Read and understand documents using dictionary or with assistance
Create simple reports using a dictionary or with assistance
Work in a team with Japanese coworkers
Exchange simple e-mails

Professional Japanese Program

Student will work with a team of instructors to achieve the level of proficiency required for becoming self-sufficient and working independently. In addition to the Employee Development Program, the student will take customized course designed for his or her specific goals.
 
Business Skills
Conduct oneself completely appropriately in a Japanese business setting
Use appropriate words and phrases during phone conversations and client meetings
Follow business discussions and contribute as needed
Generate business correspondences, memos, and documentation Go over contracts, quotes, invoices and other documents over the phone or by e-mail
Information Gathering Skills
Monitor the Japanese media and collect information related to the student’s field of specialty
Monitor the internet and industry publications
Attend seminars and interact with other participants
Presentation Skills
Create presentation documents (Power Point slides and handouts)
